What will it take to properly inform actors and other celebrities about environmental issues?
Leonardo DiCaprio and other celebrities work for, found, and fund various environmental charities, often without examining contradictory evidence produced by credible and reputable scientists. How can we be sure that the opinion they are pumping out to us is founded in reason and an honest examination of the facts instead of popular environmental hysteria such as that found here on Yahoo Answers?

- Celebrities are usually so impressed with themselves that they can't be reasoned with.... They think that because they are successful actors and have lots of admirers that they are equally gifted in all matters when in fact most of them are not particularly bright or educated people...
- Evidence that there is no global warming by credible and reputable scientists? Published in peer-reviewed journals? We would certainly like to see any such references, if they exist. And if there are such papers -- which I doubt -- I would be happy to cite a dozen peer-reviewed papers indicating that there is global warming, for every ONE you cite. Put up or shut up.
- It would take some good solid scientific research not the stuff that is produced by employees of the oil industry. I dare you to see Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth. You might be surprised. It is not what you think. Silent: The articles you list say that one cow emits more VOC's than one car. The articles agree that global warming is real. They just add that the dairy industry is a significant source of CO2. The question is, are you wiling to gamble that there is no global warming? It doesn't harm the Earth to reduce our CO2 emissions global warming or not. But it certainly could be a disaster for Humans if we stick our heads in the sand and it turns out that global warming is real.
- The problem with celebrities is that they think since some and I stress some people can't get enough of them. So they think they can try to change the world into what they want it to be. Unfortunately almost every time they speak they do not know what they are speaking about. The only people who take their opinions seriously are moron politicians trying to cash in on their name. Please if you take Al Gore seriously your one of the last few people in the world. You can not try to make an inconvenient truth a documentary. All it is, is propaganda just like a michael moore film. If al gore were so concerned with the environment when the Kyoto treaty was in front of Clinton he would of did every thing possible to get him to sign. So al gore's bitching and whining is lost on me. Humans are not the major cause of global warming cows are. The UN says so, so does the state of California. Also fuels like E85 (85% ethanol & 15% gas mixture) cause the consumption of more oil. Why would environmentalist back such things? E85 cause a loss in gas mileage between 15% to 25% being the highest I've heard of. Not only do spend more money on it you end up using more oil in the long run.
